Seminar on Empowering Women in Khowar Literature Held in Chitral

CHITRAL: A seminar titled “Khwar Lok Adab Mein Khawateen Ke Nukta Nazar” (Feminine Perspective in Khowar Folk Literature) was organized under the auspices of the Anjuman Taraqi-e-Khowar Chitral. The seminar, held at a local hotel in Chitral, aimed to shed light on the role and perspective of women in the rich tapestry of Khowar literature. The event also marked the release of the modern video presentation of the folk song “Lowah” featuring the mesmerizing vocals of Mansoor Ali Shabab.

The seminar was presided over by renowned Khowar literature figure Iqbaluddin Sahar, with special guest Shahzada Muqsood-ul-Mulk also in attendance. The event garnered international participation with esteemed guests from abroad. Among the participants were Farida Sultanah Faree, Dr. Inayatullah Faizi, Farid Ahmad Raza, Murad Akbar, Mansoor Ali Shabab, Abdul Wali Khan Advocate, Shahana Aziz, P.H.D. Scholar from Poland, Samreena Hussain, Hira Hakim, and Zahoor-ul-Haq Danish.

The participants expressed concern about the diminishing use of many Khowar words and phrases and stressed the need to familiarize the younger generation with these terms. They appreciated the efforts of organizers to release the video of the folk song “Lowah” according to contemporary demands. The song, originally a collaboration between Zahoor-ul-Haq Danish and Mansoor Ali Shabab, was financially supported by Professor Ramzan Ali.

Concluding the seminar, Mansoor Ali Shabab expressed gratitude to all contributors to the project, including Professor Ramzan Ali, Irfan Ali Taj, Muhammad Ali, Qaisar Najmi, Wasiud Din Akash, Murad Akbar, and his entire family.
