Tribute paid to Muhammad Ali Sadpara in condolence event

CHITRAL:  A condolence ceremony was held at a local hotel in Chitral to pay homage to renowned mountaineer Muhammad Ali Sadpara. The event was named after Muhammad Ali Sadpara in which his services in promoting tourism in Pakistan were appreciated by lighting candles in his memory.  This condolence ceremony was jointly organized by two local tour operating companies to pay tribute to the late Sadpara. Speakers said that Muhammad Ali Sadpara had come to Chitral a year ago and he was very happy to see the mountains of Chitral as they are very beautiful hills. He had also climbed the hill near Zara pass. On this occasion, the organizers of the event announced that in June-July this year, a few trainees will be taken to the base camp of  Trich Mir where they will be given regular training in mountaineering.

The speakers said that by promoting tourism we can make progress but after 9/11 a few climbers came here who wanted to climb the hill of Trich Mir but our management sent them back without submitting which left a bad impression.

The speakers said that Professor Arnere from Norway had climbed the 25,000 feet high Trich Mir hill in 1950. At that time no climber had climbed such a high mountain. He was as popular in Norway as Allama Iqbal in Pakistan. But unfortunately, it did not get the media coverage that caught the attention of climbers around the world.

Ibn Battuta of Chitral Haji Eidul Hussain said that he has visited 24 countries at his own expense and in many countries streets, alleys, and roads are attributed to the name of Chitral.

The speakers emphasized that there should be a climber in Chitral who can climb Trich Mir and promote tourism, hiking, and mountaineering here. They thanked Hindu Kush Explorer and The North Wonders who not only organized the event in memory of Muhammad Ali Sadpara but also worked hard to promote mountaineering and tourism in Chitral without any support. ۔, Additional Assistant Commissioner Disaster Abdul Wali said, “We do not have a factory or an industry that can employ thousands of workers, but we can only grow by promoting tourism.” The cooperation of the district administration in the promotion will always be with you.

Pilots Prince Sirajul Mulk, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Farooq, Syed Harir Shah, Eid-ul-Hussain, Liaquat Ali Khan, and others spoke on the occasion. Maulana Khaliq-ul-Zaman, Khatib of the Shahi  Mosque spoke on the importance of tourism in the light of the Qur’an and Hadith and stressed that tourism should be promoted without affecting its traditions and dealing with tourists with kindness and gentleness.  They would be motivated to come here again and again. “A year ago, a few foreign tourists came to visit the historical Shahi Masjid which I invited for tea, and eight people converted to Islam,” he said. So if we treat tourists of any religion with morality, they are not only impressed by our hospitality but also by Islam and Muslims. He also recited Fatiha and prayed for the soul of late Muhammad Ali Sadpara and the ceremony was concluded with words of supplication. A large number of tourists, hoteliers, tour operators, religious and political leaders, and people belong from all walks of life attended this important ceremony in commemoration of Muhammad Ali Sadpara.
