A labor tortured to death

CHITRAL: A laborer was allegedly beaten and tortured to death by a local police in  Drosh area of Chitral, local people informed.

According to local people, the deceased, resident of Yarkhun in upper Chitral  area had went to Drosh in search of labour work, however, police head  constable Zia-ur-Rehman beat and tortured him to death for not processing his Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC). Later, police buried the body in a local graveyard by declaring him unclaimed. Local people told this scribe that head constable Ziaur Rehman beat him and he died on the spot. He was taken to a local hospital and prepared a certificate by doctors  that the deceased was a sugar patient but local people alleged that it was a fake medical certificate.

Later on Hospital sources revealed that unidentified man was died of torture.

Political and civil society members of Chitral demanded action against the police personnel involved in the incident. Meanwhile, police said that investigation into the incident was underway, however, FIR was not registered yet.

A photo of the dead body circulating on the social media also shows stains of blood discharged from the nose of the victim and also lying on the pillow of a bed where it is lying.
