A Recap of 2019 for CHEPS

Chitral Heritage and Environmental Protection Society started its activities for the year 2019 in February. The year was kicked off from a motorbike awareness rally from Booni, Upper Chitral with the mission of “Clean and Green Pakistan” and “Save Pakistan”. This awareness campaign was done in collaboration with Chitral Bikers Club and the team traveled throughout Pakistan all the way to Gwadar engaging in awareness campaigns on the preservation of the environment and on safety measures while riding bikes. There were cleanliness and plantation projects in the major cities, including Karachi and Lahore, which aimed at bringing people together to take measures against climate change. Chairman CHEPS, Rehmat Ali Johar, said that CHEPS organized events in 40 universities across Pakistan and collaborated with 30 different government and non-government organizations to promote the cause. There were countless programs that were organized with the collaboration of Aga Khan Education Service and AKHSS in Chitral and Gilgit Baltistan where students participated in plantation drives. He also said that CHEPS was very active and made sure to assist the government in prioritizing the environment in the Shandur, Qaqlasht and Borughul festivals.

Chairman has requested the youth to come forward and help in promoting the cause of clean and green Pakistan throughout this year as the world is facing climate emergency at the moment. All of us should play our roles in preserving the beautiful environment and heritage of Chitral and Pakistan.
